Make Soba Noodles from Scratch

Deep in the heart of the nature-rich Iitaka area, you can try your hand at soba-making using locally sourced buckwheat flour. This immersive, 2-hour hands-on workshop is a fantastic way to experience Japanese culinary culture. Whether you are a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, our friendly instructors will guide you through every step, ensuring you have a fun and successful experience—even as a complete beginner!

The Soba-Making Process

You will transform simple flour into delicious, authentic noodles through a series of steps:

  • Mixing: Combining the flour with water to achieve the perfect texture.
  • Kneading: Working the dough until it becomes smooth, elastic, and glossy.
  • Rolling: Using a wooden rolling pin to stretch the dough into a thin, even sheet.
  • Cutting: Folding the dough and carefully slicing it into perfect noodle strands.
  • The Best Part – Eating: After boiling and rinsing your noodles, you will get to enjoy your very own handmade soba right there at the station. There is nothing quite like the taste of fresh, hand-cut noodles!
